Job Opportunities

Data Analyst - Freelancer, Contract

BEworks is a global behavioral science consulting firm that specializes in applying behavioral insights to drive positive change and enhance outcomes for individuals, organizations, and communities. We work with clients across various industries to develop evidence-based strategies that help achieve measurable outcomes. It is our mission to leverage the power of behavioral science and apply it to the biggest challenges facing humanity today.

Overview

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about understanding human behavior through big-data sets. We are in the fortunate position of working with many global clients around the world who ask us fascinating questions about the nature of human behavior and how to shift outcomes for the better. In many cases, this entails looking at all kinds of data from crowd flows to communications, household utility usage, and other large data sets amenable to discovery of insights. These data are usually collected during online or in-field experiments that we design and run. We analyse them using inferential statistics and modelling, among other analysis techniques. We are looking for a Data Analyst with strong statistical and data visualization skills to help us answer key questions regarding our clients’ biggest challenges.

As a Data Analyst, you will:

  • Support the team by bringing a specific focus on technical skills and practices, as well as further developing and applying those skills and practices

  • Build data analysis pipelines

  • Extract and prepare data for statistical analysis (cleaning and formatting)

  • Review and visualize data, primarily using R

  • Analyze data using various techniques that are best suited for the given problem at hand

  • Contribute to designing experiments, in determining the data collection methods to use, and in building the tools required for the data collection (e.g., an online survey)

What you know:

  • Strong knowledge of a variety of statistical and data analysis techniques including, but not limited to, sample comparison, descriptive and predictive modelling, exploratory data analysis and clustering algorithms.

  • Passion for the use of data and empirical evidence to guide strategy.

  • Hypothesis-driven data analysis and data-driven hypothesis generation.

 Your skills:

  • Analytical and conceptual thinking skill.

  • Ability to achieve high standards for the detail of data analysis as well as perspective taking on the bigger picture.

  • Ability to acquire new knowledge and skills and transfer these learnings to the team.

  • Experience with data visualization and results presentation.

  • Experience in R required.

  • Considered as assets: experience in experimental design, Python, SQL (or equivalent), command line, Bayesian modelling; familiarity with and interest in human psychology, behavioural science, and human research methods.

How you work:

  • Deadline driven, organized, and able to manage multiple projects at a given time.
